Hello everyone, I'm
existence, and I'm your host on the road to making your resolutions stick. This here is a community to help each other keep our resolutions, as previously stated, through discussion of our goals regularly, with each other, and whatever community wide activities that we attempt.
Plans! They're pretty awesome. Please note that at the moment, all my plans for this community are very flexible, and thus time scales here are all stated in tentative terms. I would like to draft a complete schedule and plans by next Monday.
1. In the next week, we'll be holding open the first post (here), a combination of friending meme and a time to share your goals for the new year.
2. The first discussion post would go up sometime next week, and would occur weekly, or perhaps more frequently if people want. Discussion posts would be a time to check in, announce changes, successes, failures, new resolutions and to help each other keep on track of our goals.
There could, either additionally, or replacing the regular discussion, be a monthly check in post to declare how you did that month.
3. Other activities! I've had people suggest to me matching up people to do the resolutions with directly. I'm also thinking about hosting if not more then once a week discussion post, maybe a post with a Weekly Question that everyone could answer in commn or in their journal, or hosting someone regularly who could talk about their goals in specific areas, like diet, finance, or the like.
4. I'm still feeling out mentally what other posting could go on here, so if you have an opinion on what you'd like to see or not see, now is the time to let me know.
I desire feedback, as much as you can give me, what sounds good, if you think things should be adjusted one way or another or if you have an idea about how things could be done differently or if something should be added. This is my first time in running a community like this, and if you have more experience in being in this sort of community and have tips or models you favor, I would like to look at those too.
You can reach me in the comments, at cookiepirate at gmail, or via PM.

Date: 2010-12-28 07:06 pm (UTC)Weekly check-in posts seem to be a good interval.
I really like the weekly question and the interview ideas. I'd love to do an interview with Gretchen Rubin, author of the Happiness Project.
Matching people would be awesome as well.

Date: 2010-12-29 10:13 am (UTC)Weekly intervals for check-in posts sound good, and I'm a great fan of the weekly question idea! (Considering my blog usually is dedicated to my bentos I'd prefer if we could answer in the comments.)
I'm not sure what you mean with hosting someone - would that be a comm member or someone from the outside?
Matching up people sounds interesting though I'm not sure how it would work. (Yes, I'm new at this ...) I'm more than willing to try, anyway ;).
So, I'm not actually helpful in providing new ideas but I'm motivated and supportive :p. Looking forward to see how all of this develops!

Date: 2010-12-29 07:39 pm (UTC)Questions could be answered anywhere: the option is really there for whoever feels comfortable with tracking their responses on their blog. So, if that doesn't work for you, don't worry about it.
Hosting would involve at least one member of the community. Either they could be talking about what they know, or they could involve someone from the outside talking about what they know. Either is fine in my book. It's my belief that the likelihood that we all know something to begin with is pretty likely. I am partial to the once a month schedule in either case so that we have something special to look forward to once a month.
Matching would be handled after next Monday, probably me doing a signup, then randomizing the list and making sure it hasn't got any conflicting matches. I'd probably set a monthly public check in with a question or something just to make sure that it kept happening, if people were interested.
